Shannon is a laureate of many national and international competitions including 1st prize in the 2024 Atlanda Flute Club Young Artist Competition, 2023 Central Ohio Flute Associtiation Competition, 2022 South Carolina Flute Society Young Artist Competition, 2022 MTNA Nebraska Young Artist Competition, and 2021 Great Composers Competition; 2nd prize in the 2023 Florida Flute Association’s Nancy Clew Eller Artist Competition. She was also a quarterfinalist in the 2023 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition.
As a teacher, Shannon strives to meet each student’s individual needs, working with them to create lessons filled with the music that will motivate them while also helping them to learn new topics. She maintains a private lesson studio with students in multiple states who she teaches both in person and online. Shannon places an emphasis on developing efficient and effective practice strategies so her students can reach the next level in their performances. She is passionate about ensuring students are taught about how to relieve tension and remove pain.
Shannon is a current DMA student studying Contemporary Music with at Bowling Green State University. She received her MM from the University of Nebraska and BM from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her principal teachers include Terri Sánchez, John Bailey, and Jennifer McElroy.
