Caara Yeung was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1998, and obtained her Master’s degree with highest distinction under the tutelage of renowned Belgian flutist Marc Grauwels at the Royal Conservatoire de Mons in 2022. Caara also holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of British Columbia with scholarships under the tutelage of Christie Reside.
Caara captivates the audience with her poetic and sensitive playing, and she performs actively as a chamber musician and soloist. She made her debut with her flute duo partner Aaron Leung at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in fall 2021. Caara’s duo has also been invited by the Brussels City Council to perform on Christmas Eve at the iconic Galerie Saint Hubert. She also performed as a soloist with the Waterloo Virtuosi Orchestra at the Theatre Royal du Parc in August 2022 at Festival Classissimo, as well as the Mons Virtuosi Orchestra.
She has furthered her playing at the International Mendelssohn Festival with Patrick Gallois; Davide Formisano, Philippe Bernold and Julien Beaudiment at the Academie Internationale d’ete de Nice, as well as Michael Martin Kofler in Austria. She has also perfected her playing with some of the finest flutists in Europe, including Adriana Ferreira and Raffaele Trevisani.
A champion of new music, with a focus on neoclassical and romantic music, Caara will make two Canadian premieres of modern French sonatas with her flute-piano chamber duo partner Dr. Irina Bazik in spring 2024.
Moreover, Caara is a passionate pedagogue and is keen to share her knowledge of flute-playing. And most importantly, to instil a life-long love and appreciation of classical music.
