PRELIMINARY AEROSOL STUDY RESULTS

The safety of and possibilities for live performances during this age of COVID-19 has been on many of our minds. Round one preliminary results from a joint study on the flow and aerosol release pathways for several instruments including the flute is now available. You can access the report here.

Please be aware that this is a preliminary testing report. The next phase of this particular study will focus on improving aerosol capture and estimating emission rates. While further in-depth testing and analysis is necessary before reaching any conclusions, we believe that access to scientific data is important and thus chose to share this information.

While health and safety remain a top priority, we look forward to future live music concerts and events with great anticipation. In the meantime, keep making music! Remember that music is an essential part of human existence and has the power to lift us up. In the words of Plato, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.”
